IWCSW Sister Club Collaboration

COLLABORATION BETWEEN Inner Wheel Club of Singapore West and Inner Wheel Club of San Fernando, Philippines 

“Our hearts are full “  read the message from Cristine Ancheta , President of IWC San Fernando La Union, in response to the generous contribution made by the Inner Wheel Club Singapore West, who helped to establish libraries , and a learning centre for underprivileged children in the Phillipines. 

IWCSW combined forces with the Inner Wheel Club San Fernando La Union after a meeting with them in January this year. Inspired by their ambitious plans to establish libraries for children in impoverished areas Vice President Lynette Lee  undertook to locate appropriate educational material in Singapore to furnish these centres.

Ms Geeta Velu, Principal of a highly regarded childcare centre in Singapore generously donated beautiful educational materials and books, and in April and May, 8 cartons of these materials were shipped, to IWC San Fernando La Union with all costs being borne by IWCSW.

In July, IWCSF announced the Ground Breaking ceremony of a School Learning Centre at Sacyud Elementary school. Two reading hubs and  mini libraries were also established for the local communities.

Cristine Ancheta (President 2024-2-25 of IWCSan Fernando La Union expressed the club’s gratitude to IWCSW in this heartfelt message: 

“Again, thank you for you and your club’s generosity and commitment to this cause. We, the mediums are so excited and happy. The children and families who will benefit from your gesture will surely appreciate it beyond words.”

IWCSW will continue to bear in mind Mother Teresa’s words who  reminded us that “we cannot do great things but we can do small things with great love” and hopefully break new grounds in the future  to bring hope and support to other marginalised  communities.
