Inner Wheel Clubs are formed under the auspices of International Inner Wheel which is one of the largest women's service voluntary organisations in the world, found in 103 countries with over 120,000 members in nearly 4,000 clubs. International Inner Wheel is an NGO, inserted in the ECOSOC (Economic and Social Council) roster, with representation at the United Nations.

As an ECOSOC representative of the United Nations, International Inner Wheel provides feedback on the voluntary work of Inner Wheel Clubs around the world in achieving UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The East Malaysian domiciled clubs were once organised under District 330 together with the West Malaysian and Singapore domiciled clubs. In view of the large number of clubs in District 330 at the time, a resolution was passed in March 2012, to form a new District comprising the 5 clubs in East Malaysia and 3 clubs in Singapore.

The new District 331 was registered on 15 May 2012, with Mrs Rokiah Staun elected as its first District Chairman. In July 2022, a new District 332 was formed for the Singapore domiciled clubs. Inner Wheel District 332 Singapore was chartered on 15 Dec 2023. We have 4 clubs in our district.

The district has the duty to keep the clubs united and accountable. Clubs submit reports to the district and the clubs in a district organise twice a year at least a joint celebration on Inner Wheel Day January 10 and World day of Peace September 21st. Another duty is to keep building unity among the clubs as well as facilitating the formation of new clubs.

ABOUT US

Over a period of more than two years, after all the office bearers have been working hard to put in place the civil and IIW requirements for the formation of a new District, the District was established by IIW on 15 December 2023.

District 332 was born out of District 331. The Inner Wheel Clubs in Singapore started out as members of District 330. As West Malaysian clubs and membership was burgeoning and new clubs were formed they suggested that a new district be formed with District 331 comprising East Malaysia and Singapore. After 10 years of happy fellowship, common projects and collaboration the difficulty of belonging to a district that had an international border began to make itself felt as new regulations pertaining to societies and clubs were tightened. Since Singapore had four clubs with the recent birth of IWCS Central we could now have our own district within Singapore.

Our charter District Chairman PP Prabha Rao had the onerous task of gathering a team, getting all the documentation right with the local Registry of Societies as well as with IIW. It took a whole year.
