IWCSE – 2nd Committee Meeting & General Meeting
2nd Committee Meeting and General Meeting was held at Tang Yun Restaurant, Tanglin Club, 5 Steven Road Singapore. A wonderful afternoon of friendship, fellowship & wellbeing. After the lunch, our invited guest Dr Lai Jinxu, delivered a talk on “Aging Well – Living well”. One of the highlights of the afternoon was an inspiring and informative about the importance of ageing well. Dr Lai reminded the members that ageing well is not simply about living longer, but about maximising our health span — the years we spend in good health, staying active, independent and socially connected. Highlights were as members or adults aged, there are 5 ‘Fs’ that happened or most common adults come along the way. It can be Fear, Falls, Fat, Fatigue, Frailty, etc. All these can creep in into the minds of all adults. And this can be controlled and managed.
So Dr Lai (photo 1 – Dr Lai sharing) had a few suggestions. Being a family or house doctor he conducts health talks on Aging well. One of his suggestions was to be physical mobile staying active through regular exercise such as walking or treadmill workouts, including inclined walking for around 30 minutes. Doing some exercise, walking frequently. Another thing is to have a Mental Sharpness. Meet friends, join a social club, talk and chat with friends of the same hobbies, read books, etc. Keeping minds active, engaged and have continuous learning. Most importantly, get connected with other friendships or with other social clubs to keep updated with life. Be happy. (Photo 2 – Group Photo with the Speaker) His sharing was a wonderful reminder that small, consistent lifestyle choices can make a meaningful difference to the quality of life of a person.
