Leadership & Empowerment

The Inner Wheel Club of Manchester was founded in 1924 by Margarette Golding, the first of nearly 4,000 Inner Wheel Clubs today. By 2022, Inner Wheel has grown to more than 120,000 members in 100 countries.

Members are the core of all Inner Wheel Clubs managed by elected Club Executives. Four or more clubs can form an Inner Wheel District with elected officers. The growth of Districts led to the formation of National Governing Bodies in several countries.

Office bearers hold positions for 1 to 3 years where each year starts 1 July and ends 30 June. Every Inner Wheel member has the opportunity to hold office, to experience, to learn and to lead. It is a nurturing platform for young adults to start.

Chairman Message

Lipika Bhattacharya
District Chairman 2026-2027
Inner Wheel District 332

Dear friends,

It is my great pleasure to welcome all of you today. As I officially take on the position of District Chairman, I am truly honoured to lead our district and to stand before such a committed and inspiring group of women.

As Mahatma Gandhi beautifully said, 'The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.' In Inner Wheel, our journey begins with the beautiful bond of friendship. But there is a distinct, powerful transition that happens here: through our shared friendship, we find a greater purpose, transforming our connection into a movement for selfless service and international understanding.

Inner Wheel has always been more than an organisation — it is a community of compassion, leadership, and action. Across our clubs, we continue to touch lives through meaningful projects that support women, children, families, and communities in need. Every initiative, no matter how small, carries the power to create lasting impact.

This truth resonates deeply with my own life's work. Being an educator in higher education, I witness every day how small, consistent efforts shape the future of young minds. This experience reinforces my firm belief that a women’s organisation dedicated to service can bring about immense change through grassroots efforts. Just as a single lesson can spark a lifetime of potential, our small projects transform communities. Each act of kindness counts, and absolutely no service goes to waste.

As we move forward together, let us continue to strengthen our bonds of friendship while embracing new ideas, new members, and new opportunities to serve. The world today needs empathy, collaboration, and kindness more than ever, and I believe Inner Wheel has an important role to play in leading by example.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our members and office bearers for their dedication and hard work. Your commitment is the true strength of this organisation. Moving into this year, I am incredibly excited and look forward to working closely with the wonderful DEXCO team and all of our vibrant clubs.

Let us continue to work together with positivity, purpose, and unity, and make this year one of meaningful service and lasting memories.

Thank you, and I wish everyone a wonderful year ahead.
